Melissa Green, MS, MA is a Happiness Consultant who teaches mindfulness, self-care and self-awareness. She has engaged in spiritual practices her entire life and has been meditating since 1996. Melissa is the Founder of Dragonfly Center which provides safe, nurturing environments for people of all walks of life to gain more awareness, heal holistically, and cultivate the well-being of the whole person, inspiring people to reconnect with their light within and discover their meaning, purpose, and true happiness in life.  Melissa is a wisdom-based entrepreneur with work centered on stress management and creating happiness using mindfulness in corporate, educational, and health settings. She is a passionate and caring partner to her clients in the journey of realizing their full human potential. Melissa is compelled to use her voice in empowering and uplifting others in realizing that we are so much more than our conditions.

Being raised in a single-parent home below the poverty level in rural Alabama, Melissa embraced education and became the first in her family to go to college. She then trail-blazed her way to higher education and in 1998 became the first African-American to earn an advanced degree in the Computer Science and Engineering department at the University of Notre Dame. She wrote a pioneering thesis and created a voice-activated mouse for the physically disabled; the research was recognized in Scientific American magazine. She then worked in Silicon Valley as an engineer, project manager and consultant in high tech fields. 

Melissa left her successful career and trekked around the world, interacting with diverse peoples and cultures and embarked on a two-year backpacking trip spanning over 40 countries. With a heartfelt commitment of service, she shares inspiration, motivation, humor and compassion through her authentic way of being.  Melissa received her second Masters in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University with a specialization in Health Psychology. She completed her MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher training in 2009 and then the MBSR Professional training with Jon Kabat-Zinn. In addition, she teaches mindfulness and well-being with youth and has received advanced training and certification with Mindful Schools.

Melissa is a Happiness Agent for Project Happiness to help expand Social Emotional Learning curriculum for all ages. She is a consultant with Mission Be to deliver mindful education programs in schools. She is also a Mindful Leader in the Family Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Melissa is collaborating with Mindful Cloud Entertainment to contribute to the creation of mindful lessons and activities to accompany the upcoming animated film, “Planting Seeds: The Power of Mindfulness” based on the book by Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village Community. She is also the Diversity Outreach Coordinator for Wisdom 2.0. Melissa regularly attends retreats, workshops and conferences for continued education and practice that contribute to her offering the very best to her clients.
